Minister's Bio |

Brother Michael K. McFadden is a native of
Philadelphia, PA, where he attended Overbrook High School. After
high school, Michael journeyed to the Washington, DC area where he
attended Howard University, receiving a Bachelor’s of Business
Administration degree in Accounting. He later earned a Master’s of
Human Services with a core concentration in counseling. Michael,
being an avid student of the bible, became a member of the Lord’s
body in 1990. Simultaneously, he gained an apprenticeship in
pastoral studies under the guidance of the senior minister at
District Heights Church of Christ. Five years later in 1995, Michael
was ordained as the Minister of the 13th Street Church of Christ,
where he labored and served for 4 years before venturing out to
plant a new work in College Park, Maryland. Brother McFadden
continues to participate in local and national lectureships, gospel
meetings, workshops and seminars across the country. Currently,
Michael labors and builds the body at College Park.
As an Evangelist, Brother McFadden’s primary
responsibility is to train and equip the saints for the work of the
Lord. As a servant and leader of people, Michael has to implore a
myriad of leadership skills, specialized counseling techniques, and
possess an intricate understanding of human dynamics. Through his
keen listening, discerning, and discriminating skills, Michael has
developed a three-prong approach to properly and effectively equip
the saints. The triad consists of teaching, counseling, and training
members to duplicate the church according to its biblical model.
Teaching the gospel is essential in facilitating a
spiritual foundation that produces life change. Spiritual counseling
is necessary for healing that results from a personal, intimate
relationship with the Lord. Today, most counselors stop short by
treating symptoms, failing to reach the core issues and eradicate
the problem. Brother McFadden believes all problems are rooted in
sin and all answers to our problems are rooted in the healing power
of Jesus. However, making the connection between the core issues and
the ministry of Jesus requires a counselor skilled in the word of
God. As the bible tells us, the renewing of our minds is a constant
process. Michael strongly believes that aligning people with the
truth and dispelling errors will facilitate this renewal process
thereby bringing about transformation. Accordingly, Brother
McFadden’s counseling sessions are structures to produce a
regeneration of the mind. Lastly, training the saints to duplicate
the process will ensure that the Lord’s body continues to grow
exponentially. However, Brother McFadden cautions growth in numbers
is not the equivalent to growing a spiritually healthy body of
Christ, which is the ultimate goal. God is looking for those who
love Him and are willing to “seek and save the lost;” which will
require saints to fall in love with doing the work of the Lord.
Without prayer, training, faith, and transformation, this would be
merely an exercise in futility.
When asked who are his mentors in the gospel,
Michael excitedly exclaims a list that includes, Brothers’ Duran
Cathey, Willie Hubbard, Joseph Brown, Jack Evans, Billy Washington,
William Stephens and a host of other great pioneers in the gospel.
Brother McFadden sees the body of Christ at large as healthy and is
willing to contribute locally for global change in the body to bring
glory to God. When asked about his most notable experience, Michael
looks pensive, then smiles and retorts, “My most profound moment was
in bible class, when I first discovered the truth!” To date, Brother
McFadden is counted among the men of God and considered a Godly man,
dedicating his entire life to serving and equipping the saints and
brining willing humans into a deeper relationship with Jesus for the
glory of God. |

| Announcement
2006 Youth Ministry
We are excited and proud to announce our 2006 Youth Bible
Study and Activity Calendar for our youth! Our theme: “We Have Our H-E-L-P…
Hands Extended Lifting People!” Our text comes from Matthew 25:40, “What
you’ve done for the least of them, you’ve done for Me…” Our children are our
most valuable resource and we are charged to provide an environment
conducive for their growth, both physically and spiritually. We are
committed to provide a spiritual foundation. Proverbs 22:6, “Train a child
up in the way he should go…” is our mission statement for 2006. This is a
community effort and the dedicated members of the College Park Church body
will do our part to make it happen.
